Meet Gastroenterologist Xavier Llor, MD, PhD

– My focus is on cancer genetics, G.I. cancer genetics,
particularly colorectal cancer. The most important thing
is knowledge is power, and it is truly the case. We can do very little
when cancers are advanced. Yet we can do a lot when we know about predisposition or early cancers. We know that even people who have very important genetic mutations that give you a very high risk for cancer, depending on the environmental factors, the risk can also be modified quite a bit. So we stress a lot life style modifications that can actually help prevent
development of a cancer. So it’s not a death sentence
or anything like that. It’s actually letting us know that we can do lots of different things to really minimize the risk. I think that’s the important message that we wanna give to patients.
