Kingsley Coman in contention for Bayern Munich return vs Liverpool

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman is “better hour from hour” in his bid to overcome an ankle issue in time to face Liverpool at Anfield, Niko Kovac has revealed  The 22-year-old was forced off after scoring twice in his side’s 3-2 victory over Augsburg on Friday having seemingly suffered a recurrence of a persistent ankle issue  However, the prognosis offered by the club’s medical staff the day after that game appeared optimistic, and Kovac has today confirmed that Coman is recovering well  He said of the injury: “It will be better hour from hour. It’s another 24 hours to go He’s had two serious injuries and then at Augsburg he got a real shock, but we know him very well    “If he hasn’t got any pain then he will feel ready to play. If it’s painful then it will be more difficult But again, it’s down to our medics.”  Kovac will also be able to call upon his other French wideman, Franck Ribery, who remained in Germany for the birth of his child but flew out separately later on Monday    The Croatian added: “For me it’s a surprise that it went so quickly. It wasn’t planned like that Nature intervened as it would like.   “Franck didn’t sleep at all, he was quite excited He will join us today and he’s probably on the way now.”  Jerome Boateng also didn’t travel with his teammates after struggling with gastroenteritis in the build-up the game  However, Kovac has refused to rule the German out of tomorrow’s game, insisting he could travel over late if given the all clear by doctors  “Jerome has a gastroenteritis problem. We’ve got all the others. We have to see what the doctors in Munich will say,” he continued  “If he can be infectious then of course he won’t travel. [He will travel] only if the doctors say he not infectious and doesn’t endanger any of the others, otherwise not ”
