Hi, my name is Windy St. George and this is
how to deal with baby constipation. To tell if your baby is constipated, you need to check
his diaper and see how long it’s been since he’s passed a bowel movement. His bowel movement
should at least be once a day. For newborns, it could be up to four or five times a day.
You could tell that they’re constipated also because they have hard, little pebbly stools
when they go, if they go. They also have stomach problems and could have pain or stiffness
in their stomach. It’s unusual for newborns to have constipation– especially breast-fed
newborns. It usually happens because children are eating solid foods. You can help, if your
young child on formula is having constipation, you should make sure that your formula is
at the right concentration. If you have too little water in your formula mix, it can cause
constipation. So, also, for older children, cut down on apple juice and make sure they
drink plenty of other fluids. Apple juice can cause constipation and so can dehydration.
