Am I in Labor or Just Constipated?

Am I in labor or just constipated? How could
I tell the difference, because both give you stomach pains? That would have to be pretty bad constipation
to mistake it for labor. Well, it could be really early labor. Early labor will start off with muscle tension.
Some women go in for horrific back pains, not realizing they are in labor. So mistaking other things for labor is normal. You can tell if you are in labor if you are
dilated, but only a nurse could verify that. I need a solution other than going to the
doctor. Drink milk of magnesia or eat two bowls of
oatmeal to cure the constipation. Make sure you drink a lot of water, too. What will that do? It will treat the constipation. And if you
are in labor, you’ve just cleared out your system so that you are less likely to poop
on the doctor while in labor. I don’t think that really happens. Does
it? Oh, yes, it does. Your body is so busy pushing
out a baby that some poop or pee gets pushed out, too. That’s disgusting. That’s par the course. They’re already
dealing with your amniotic fluid, blood and other bodily fluids. What do I do if the symptoms remain after
a few trips to the bathroom? You might be in labor, or have a urinary tract
infection or something else wrong. At which point, you need to take a trip to the doctor. I wish there was an easier way to tell the
difference. If the pain starts getting rhythmic and sharper,
you know you’re in labor. At which point, you need someone to drive you to the hospital. I don’t know if it is any relief to think
that labor might cure the constipation.
